After compact SUVs, we have seen a rise in the number of seven-seater SUVs in the mass-market segment. Many people consider them value for money, and they are also quite practical. Some brands are even offering 7-seater vehicles at the price of a compact 5-seater SUV, making the overall proposition much more tempting for customers. Here, we have a list of four new 7-seat SUVs from Renault and Nissan that are set to launch in the market soon.
Renault Boreal
The first one on this list is the Renault Boreal. The SUV has already been unveiled internationally, and we know that it is based on the same platform as the Duster. It is available as a 5-seater internationally, but when it comes to India, it will be a 7-seater vehicle.
Although it is based on the same platform, the Boreal is longer, wider, and slightly taller than the Duster. It also has a longer wheelbase, which means it can offer more space for occupants and accommodate third-row seats.
The SUV is likely to offer a similar cabin to the Duster and will include premium features like Level 2 ADAS, seat ventilation, a panoramic sunroof, and more. The SUV will be powered by the same 1.3-litre turbocharged petrol engine paired with a 6-speed manual and a 6-speed DCT gearbox. The 1.0-litre turbo petrol engine from the Duster might not make it to the Boreal, as it would be underpowered.
Just like the Duster, we expect Renault to offer a hybrid version of the Boreal in the market as well. Renault might follow the same strategy as the Duster, where they launch the regular petrol version first and then introduce the hybrid version after around six months.
The Boreal strong hybrid version will be powered by a 1.8-litre petrol engine paired with an electric motor. This would be the same setup as the Duster, where the electric motor draws power from a 1.8 kWh battery pack, which is one of the largest in the segment. It would allow owners to use the car as an EV up to 80 percent of the time during city driving. This would also result in better fuel efficiency.
Nissan Tekton 7-Seater
After the Duster, Nissan also woke up from its slumber and decided to rework its strategy for India. As part of this new strategy, Renault and Nissan plan to introduce new and interesting products to capture customer interest. Nissan will be launching its version of the Duster as the Tekton in the market.
Mechanically, the SUV will be the same as the Duster and will be offered with the same engine options. After the Tekton, Nissan will also launch a 7-seater version of the model in the market. It might carry the same Nissan Patrol-inspired design as the Tekton but with an additional row at the back.
Tekton 7-Seater Hybrid
Just like the Boreal Hybrid, the Tekton 7-seater hybrid will also be introduced in the market. It is expected to come with similar features and capabilities as the regular Tekton.
